Stomp 442 is the seventh studio album by American thrash metal band Anthrax. It was released in 1995, by Elektra Records. The band and the Philadelphia-based producers Butcher Brothers produced the album, which includes the singles, Fueled and Nothing. The album debuted at No. 47 on the Billboard 200 charts. Anthrax claimed that their label, Elektra Records, didn't do enough to promote the album, and they left soon after. Stomp 442 is the only Anthrax album not featuring the traditional Anthrax. Previously, the band had been able to save their weakest material by the sheer force of their personality, but by the time they recorded Stomp 442, they had lost a number of their key members. Instead of recharging the band, the new members make Anthrax seem somewhat unsure of where to go next - they pull out their old bag of tricks, but none of their blistering riffs, thundering drums, or hip-hop experiments carry any excitement any more. Of the big four thrash metal bands, Anthrax is the one that gets the least amount of attention. Still being part of the big four warrants enough notoriety, with Anthrax being the most unique of them all specifically in the vocal department. Joey Belladonna was an excellent singer and his eccentric performances on their first albums are what gave Anthrax their charm, along with their relentless thrash metal riffs and intense double bass heavy drumming backing him up. Unfortunately after Persistence of Time, Joey left the band and was replaced by ex-Armored Saint vocalist John Bush. Type: Full-length. Release date: October 24th, 1995. Catalog ID: 61856-2.
