A1 - A2 Chicago, November 16, 1943 Roy Eldridge trumpet Joe Eldridge, Andrew Gardner alto saxes Ike Quebec, Thomas Archia tenor saxes Roselle the Cats Join In, subtitled 25 Star Jazzmen in a Buck Clayton Jam Session, is an album by trumpeter Buck Clayton which was recorded between 1953 and 1956 and released by Columbia. All The Cats Join In Alec Wilder, Eddie Sauter, Ray Gilbert 7:14. Out of Nowhere Johnny Green, Edward Heyman 7:03. Roy David Eldridge January 30, 1911 February 26, 1989 was a jazz trumpet player in the Swing era. His sophisticated use of harmony, including the use of tritone substitutions, resulted in him sometimes being seen as the link between Louis Armstrong-era swing music and Dizzy Gillespie-era bebop. Roy's rhythmic power to swing a band was a dynamic trademark of the Swing Era. Eldridge was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His nickname was Little Jazz. Eldridge played in the bands of Fletcher Henderson, Gene Krupa and Artie Shaw before making records under his own name. He also read more. Trumpeter Roy Eldridge recorded 28 selections for Decca during 1943-46 with his big band but this rather chintzy LP from the later days of MCA's Jazz Heritage series only has ten numbers, less than a half-hour of music. Fortunately the quality is on a higher level than the quantity and the great trumpeter who is the main soloist on every song and even takes a vocal on Ain't That a Shame is heard near the peak of his powers on tunes such as After You've Gone, I Can't Get Started and Yard Dog. Hopefully someday MCA will reis. Songs in album Roy Eldridge - Roy Eldridge 1945-1947 1993. Roy Eldridge - Little Jazz Boogie. Roy Eldridge - Embraceable You. Roy Eldridge - Roy Meets Horn.
