Now said fans can own the entire Moles output, plus a handful of interesting rarities, in one handy place. For the purpose of this compilation, The Moles refers to two projects. The first is the Sydney indie pop band fronted by Richard Davies that was active in the late 80s and early 90s. The second's the psychedelic chamber-pop solo project Davies launched after that band broke up. This reissue collects the complete works of both. The 1994 album is tighter and darker, sharpening their garage rock roots into a deadly attack quickly evident on Already in Black, which shows just how far Davies had evolved from bubble gum garage rock to something far more intense and powerful, as its hammer-blow riffs drill through your skill. Conversely, Cassie Peek Cross shows the band can still do melodic psychedelic charm as Davies croons enigmatically: Tired Of taking time Better take your moves or lose my mind. And then, The Moles were no more. Davies went on to join Eric Matthews in Cardinal, opening up yet another chapter in his. After a move to London, The Moles broke up in 1993.
