Although the sound quality is not modern it is surprisingly good. These recordings are excellent ways to approach the Beethoven concertos, even for listeners new to them. Kempff recorded concerto no. 1 in C major, op 15 in 1925 with the Berlin State Opera Orchestra and an unnamed conductor. It was the first recording of this concerto and it wears well.
